Art Aid Exhibition Premier - Press Release

Local Hispanic Artists Organize Exhibition to Benefit Victims of the Earthquakes in Haiti and Chile

Local artists band together to raise money for the American Red Cross to benefit victims of the earthquakes in Haiti and Chile.

Charlotte, North Carolina April 26, 2010  -- A group of local hispanic artists have teamed with the Carolinas Chapter of the Red Cross to organize a fundraiser for the victims of the earthquakes in Haiti and Chile.  Rosalia Weiner, Founder of Project Art Aid, explains, “Project Art Aid  is comprised of a small group of renowned latin artists working in solidarity to address the needs of local and global communities. We believe in the power of creativity and in harnessing our collective works to serve humanity.  Through art, we express, and through that expression, we manifest positive change in the world.”

The group has organized their first exhibition on Sunday May 2nd at the Actor’s Theater of Charlotte, located at 650 East Stonewall Street in Uptown Charlotte.  The group is planning to exhibit over a dozen original works of art that were expressly commissioned for the benefit project.  All of the works will be offered for sale, with 100% of the proceeds being donated to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund for the Victims of the Earthquakes in Haiti and Chile.  The group hopes to hold several exhibits between May and July, when the fundraising drive will conclude.

“I knew that together, we could help make a difference and contribute to the relief efforts,” said Dulce Tavares, a contributor to the Art Aid Project.  The project has recently launched a web site (www.projectartaid.org) where the public can learn about upcoming exhibitions, browse the biographies of the contributing artists, and get involved with the project.

Announcing Art Aid  - My Vision for Global Outreach through Local Arts

My  next project is going to be a show of support for the disaster relief campaigns in Haiti and Chile.  A group of devoted artists and I are getting together to create a gallery of artwork which will be on display in an online and public exhibition.  All of the proceeds will directly benefit the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.  I am in the final stages of coordinating this project with the Charlotte Chapter of the Red Cross, and will formally announce the details soon.
